Shorthair Cats

Shorthair Cats

There are a lot of different kinds of shorthair cats. They come in different sizes and shapes, and some even have special things like a short tail or curly ears. But they all have at least two things that are the same, short fur, and they are all adorable!

American Curl

American Curl

American Curls have cute ears that curl back, which is where their name comes from. The kittens are actually born with straight ears that begin to curl within the first three months. American Curls can be show cats if their ears curl enough. They are very lovable and loyal cats.

Manx

Manx

Manx cats have very short tails, and some have no tail at all. They are very good hunters, but are also tame and like to be around people. Even though they have short or no tails, they are still very good at balancing. Some people say the Manx is a mix between a rabbit and a cat, but this is not really true.

Ocicat

Ocicat

The Ocicat looks like a wild cat. Even though it looks like a wild cat it is not wild at all, and is actually very friendly. Sometimes they are compared to dogs because they can learn how to fetch and do other tricks. They are also very friendly with strangers, and love to play.

Scottish Fold

Scottish Fold

The Scottish Fold has ears that fold down and almost make it look like an owl. They get along good with other animals and are very calm cats. Scottish folds have some cute habits, like sleeping on their backs, or sitting like a person with their feet out and their paws on their bellies!

Selkirk Rex

Selkirk Rex

Some Selkirk Rex cats have straight hair and some have adorable curly hair that always looks messy. Either way, they are very patient and loving cats. When they are born, you can tell the curly haired cats from the straight haired cats because the ones that will grow curly hair have curly whiskers!

Siamese

Siamese

The Siamese cat is from Thailand. It has blue eyes, big ears, and a long, thin body. They have a lot of energy and are very playful. They are usually very friendly and make a strong bond with one person. Their meow is loud and sounds a little like a crying baby. Siamese cats are often described as acting more like dogs than cats.
